In this post, I will be starting a new series of photos from the beautiful and historic city of Salamanca, Spain. This new series will highlight three major sites which are very close to each other: these are the Cripta de San Cebrián, Cueva de Salamanca, and Torre del Marqués de Villena.
Cripta de San Cebrián: This is conatined within the Cueva de Salamanca. In the legend of the cave, there is a subterranean crypt which corresponds to an old San Cebrián church, which was constructed in the 1200s and destroyed in the 1500s. Nowadays, all that exists is a little wall plaque within the Cueva de Salamanca. (http://www.wikisalamanca.org/?title=La_Cripta_de_San_Cebri%C3%A1n)
Cueva de Salamanca: "(the) Cave of Salamanca is a legendary enclave of the city of Salamanca where, according to the popular tradition, gave class Devil". According to the legend, students from the University of Salamanca learned demonic arts, not allowed by their school masters. In reality, this legend is based off a real cave. Torre del Marqués de Villena: This is a tower that one can climb near the Cueva de Salamanca. The view from the top of this tower is a must see within the city.
