Cordoba Day 2 - Madinat Al-Zahra

Welcome all,

Today, was a great day in Cordoba.  I was able to enjoy two great sights within the city and area of Cordoba.  First, this morning I took nearly 400 photos within the Cordoba Cathedral/Mesquita and after a relaxing time back at my hotel, I was able to see the Madinat Al-Zahra.  This was the capital seat of the Omeyid Caliphate  of Cordoba for a period of 70 years during the tenth-eleventh centuries in Spain.  It was an archeological sight and the museum at the site offered a two minute bus ride which dropped you right by the sight.  It reminded me easily of roman sites that I had seen within Turkey.  I am including some sample photos of the ruins of this magnificent building below.  The pictures I took today at the site mirror the photos below.





Tomorrow, I will be leaving for Salamanca and Madrid.
