In this post, I will be continuing my series of photos from the beautiful city of Madrid, Spain. One amazing sight within this city is the "Iglesia del Sacramento", also known as the Sacrament Church. Like any historic building in Spain, this building has its origins in the 17th century, the Baroque period.
Informally known as the "Iglesia Catedral de las Fuerzas Armadas", this building started off as an old monastery for Cistercian monks in the year 1615. The founder of the building was Cristóbal Gómez de Sandoval-Rojas y de la Cerda, the Duke of Uceda and a "valido"/valued one of Felipe III, the current king of Spain in 1615.
Regarding the form of this church, it was built in a Latin cross design. Its amazing interior works were done by Andrés Esteban in 1744. Please enjoy the photos below of this amazing and magnificent building.
