Greetings all,
The summer heat has officially returned in Maryland. The whole kicker in this situation is that this weather is more humid than Mediterranean weather. I loved being in Mediterranean weather. With that type of weather, you get the good summer heat without all the unnecessary humidity. Summer also signifies the return of music that features happy themes, upbeat tempos and optimistic thoughts. Gone are the times of waiting for the sun and here are the times to take life by the horns and make it your own.
Two summers ago, I downloaded the free tracks offered every week by iTunes. One download was the song "Shake It" by Metro Station. The band was a 3 person band. The two singers had connections to a Disney star and were the typical pop group. Bouncy techno tracks with the interchanging of vocals, the typical plan used to get the radio stations to play their music. I remember downloading the track, listening to it twice and forgetting about it. However, they released an album later in 2009 and I felt like giving their cd a chance. I downloaded it and was pleasantly surprised by their album, "Metro Station." It was pop album, featuring optimistic songs about girls, and the relationships of the singers with those girls. In 2010, they broke up.
For those seeking a pop album that breaks the mold, this is nor for you. This music was made to attract a pop-music minded audience. However, if you are looking for a pop album that excels in its craft, give this cd a chance. It won`t change your mind on how pop music is made. However, the cd does provide a great example of modern pop music. The cd name is "Metro Station", a self-titled album.
