Montserrat is my favorite site to visit whenever I am in Barcelona. Located nearly an hour by public transportation outside of the city of Barcelona, Montserrat contains an important Monastery. It even houses the famous Black Virgin, one of the reasons for it`s foundation. In Catalan, the name Montserrat means "jagged mountain", a physical feature that is evident by the huge boulders that surround the monastery. What makes this site even more amazing is its amazing trails, which each offer views for those who are more adventurous.
